Moist Singletrack

24 10 2008

With a strange feeling in my left knee (I wonder why) I left for my Friday training. Although I wanted to explore some paths by the Englisher Garten and above, I headed South along the Isar as usual for some moist trails in the woods. Starting with a long flat section I was able to put all my thoughts in order regarding my personal issues while keeping a low heart rate.

Having reached my limits regarding known trails I decided to explore and found this 3 km long uphill single track section between two hills and completely covered in yellow and brown shades due the fallen leaves, perfect and also a bit intimidating. After reaching the top I continued a bit further on to the unknown to discover that the path back to the city would make me climb parallel to the single track I had just ridden (second major spike in the graph above).

When coming full speed down the single track I managed to dive into a puddle of mud and get my bike a skin treatment up until the middle of my beautiful “white”-spoked wheels, including the whole rear suspension! Nice.

It was a long(?) ride and it was already dark when I headed back to the city. With my Sigma light on, I again thought about buying a new head light system with some real power as all the guys wear around here. I am still thinking about having Betty on top of me… but I guess the price is the motivating my German ride colleagues to build their own lighting systems… I need to gather some more info on this matter.
